Breast Augmentation Can Address Many Needs

Small Breasts

Many patients have struggled with small breasts since their teenage years. Breast implants can enhance the bustline and create a curvier, more feminine figure.

Reconstruction after Mastectomy

Many women who are diagnosed with breast cancer will undergo a mastectomy. Dr. Hermann has undergone extensive training in reconstructive surgery and can design a breast reconstruction at our Denton office that restores your physical and emotional wholeness.

Transitioning Patients

Breast implants can have a significant impact on how you feel within your body as you transition. Dr. Hermann will work with you to design a treatment plan to help you achieve your desired physical goals.

Addressing the Effects of Pregnancy

Patients frequently combine breast lift, tummy tuck, and liposuction with their breast augmentation to achieve a comprehensive "mommy makeover." These surgeries are designed to tone, tighten, and enhance areas of the body that change after pregnancy.

Here's What Happens During Treatment:

Am I a Good Candidate?

To qualify for breast augmentation surgery, patients must meet certain requirements:

  • You are at least 18 years of age
  • Your breasts are fully developed
  • You are in good overall health and do not smoke
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are able to take sufficient time off for recovery

Dr. Hermann will also assess whether augmentation can realistically address your concerns. While the procedure will successfully enhance the shape and size of your bust, it will not address other concerns such as sagging breast sagging tissue. Depending on your goals, he may recommend an alternative procedure, such as a breast lift.

Types of Breast Implants

When you arrive at our Denton, TX, practice for your initial consultation, we will show you the different types of breast implants and discuss the advantages of each. Our patients can choose from:
Saline Implants

Saline Implants

Saline breast implants consist of a silicone outer shell filled with a sterile saltwater solution. These implants can be filled after placement, allowing for a smaller incision and a certain amount of adjustability after they are placed in the breast pocket. If your saline breast implants rupture, the solution will be harmlessly absorbed by the body. Many patients believe the feel of saline implants is less natural than that of silicone implants; saline may be a good choice depending on the amount of natural breast tissue you have.

Silicone Implant

Silicone Implants

Silicone breast implants consist of silicone outer shells filled with silicone gel. Many patients and plastic surgeons alike find that implants filled with silicone gel closely mimic the feel and appearance of natural breast tissue.  Silicone implants can be textured and designed with various shapes and profiles to appear more lifelike and better enhance your body type.

Gummy Bear Implants

Gummy Bear Implants

Form-stable breast implants, also known as gummy bear implants, are silicone implants with a consistency similar to the candy their nickname is derived from. These breast implants have a teardrop shape characteristic of natural breasts. The gel in gummy bear implants is more viscous than traditional silicone, so you are less likely to experience the "rippling" effect of saline implants or suffer from gel migration if rupture occurs.

Get the Results You Want

Dr. Hermann combines his extensive training and his passion for artistry to give patients the results they want through breast augmentation. His modern approach involves a relatively fast and easy recovery. Dr. Hermann performs this procedure often, and you can expect a thorough consultation in which he will carefully plan your treatment.

Choosing Your Breast Implant Size

breast implants

Choosing the size of your breast implants is an important part of your procedure that should be carefully considered. Dr. Hermann will help  guide your decision with a combination of both high-tech and tried-and-true planning techniques.

You will start the process by trying on realistic breast implant sizers to get a feel for the physical shape and weight of various cup sizes. Next, we use our advanced BodyLogic™ system to create digital mock-ups of the results various breast implants will produce. This software allows you to see a preview of your results and give your input about your ideal breast size and projection.

We strive for clear communication and a collaborative approach to your treatment to ensure you achieve the look you desire and long-term satisfaction with the results.

Preparing for Breast Augmentation

Before you undergo plastic surgery at our Denton, TX, practice, you will be provided with a personalized list of pre-operative instructions that typically include the following:
Stop taking blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs, for 10 days prior to your procedure.
Do not smoke for a full two months before your breast augmentation procedure.
Go to the pharmacy and pick up all prescription medications in advance.
Arrange for a trusted family member or friend to drive you to and from your plastic surgery.
Plan to wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothes that can be removed and replaced easily.

What Happens During A Breast Augmentation?

Here is what you can expect during breast augmentation at our Denton, TX, practice:

Day of Procedure

Before beginning your breast augmentation procedure, general anesthesia is administered for your comfort. Under this type of sedation, patients will be completely unaware of their surroundings and will not remember anything from the procedure.

Creating the Incisions

Our plastic surgeon will create an incision in the crease of the breast, the armpit, or around the areola. We will determine the incision location while designing your treatment to best achieve your goals and produce minimal post-surgical scarring.

Placing the Implants

Once the incisions have been made, the implants will be placed within the breast tissue. Breast implants can either be placed above the pectoral muscle (subglandular) or below the pectoral muscle (submuscular).

Closing the Incisions

After the implants are successfully positioned within the breast pockets, your plastic surgeon will close the incisions with surgical sutures.

Once the breast augmentation procedure is complete, the treatment site will be dressed with gauze bandages. You will also be fitted with a compression bra and in some cases, a drainage tube to help reduce swelling and other complications.

Breast Augmentation FAQ's

Our Denton, TX, practice believes in patient education. Dr. Hermann will patiently answer all of your questions during your consultation. In the meantime, we invite you to explore answers to frequently asked questions regarding breast augmentation:

How much does a breast augmentation cost?

Compared to other plastic surgery practices in the area, our services cost comparatively less without compromising quality. All of our plastic surgery procedures are custom-designed for the patient and can vary in cost depending on your needs and goals. For example, silicone implants cost more than saline implants.

Do you offer financing options?

Our staff can help you arrange a flexible payment plan through CareCredit or United Medical Credit. We also accept cash and all major credit cards. During an initial consultation at our practice, our team can help you determine a personalized payment plan to fit your needs and budget.

What are the risks associated with the procedure?

As with any surgery, breast augment carries some risk. While serious side effects are rare, it is important to be aware of possible complications. Some risks include infection, changes in nipple sensitivity, and capsular contracture (the hardening of scar tissue around the implant). Implants themselves can rupture due to trauma and other factors. One of the best ways that you as a patient can minimize your risks is to choose an outstanding surgeon.

Will I be able to breastfeed after a breast augmentation?

You will still be able to breastfeed following breast augmentation. In some cases, however, implants can block the flow of breast milk and result in inadequate milk production. Again, to minimize this risk, choose a cosmetic surgeon who specializes in breast procedures.
