A tummy tuck provides virtually immediate results. As you heal and the scars fade, you can expect to look better both in everyday clothes and swimwear.

Lasting Outcomes

Although your body will be subject to natural aging, regular exercise and a healthy diet will help you maintain the results of your procedure for years to come.

Dr. Hermann is an highly skilled surgeon whom I eagerly recommend. I went to him for a tummy tuck and breast lift. He’s very laid back and easy to talk with. He is also extremely thorough to explain each procedure and exactly how it’s performed. He staff is incredibly friendly as well. I was comfortable during the entire process. I’m still healing but I can already tell I made the right choice and I love the results!

What Is a Tummy Tuck?

A tummy tuck, which is technically called an abdominoplasty, sculpts the waistline and smooths the stomach by removing excess skin and fat before tightening the remaining tissue. Damaged or weakened muscles in the abdominal wall can also be tightened as part of a tummy tuck.

Aging, pregnancy, weight fluctuations, and even genetics can leave the skin loose around your abdomen. If abdominal muscles have stretched and separated, they will also create a bulge. Men who lift heavy weights can also be affected.

Dr. Hermann is skilled at abdominoplasty, which is an outpatient procedure, and will make the incision discreet and easy to hide by placing it in the bikini line. Patients can also receive liposuction as part of a tummy tuck.

Full Tummy Tuck Vs. Mini Tummy Tuck

North Texas Breast & Plastic Surgery Center in Denton, TX, offers both full tummy tucks and mini tummy tucks so patients can receive care tailored to their unique needs.
full tummy tuck

Full Tummy Tuck

A full abdominoplasty addresses the entire abdomen, both above and below the belly button. Dr. Hermann will carefully tighten the skin and repair muscles in the middle and upper abdominal wall to achieve the toned look you want. The incision, which is placed just above the pubic area, runs from hip to hip. Skin is pulled down to tighten the entire abdomen and a new belly button may be created. Excess fat can be removed over the full area with liposuction.

Mini Tummy Tuck

Mini Tummy Tuck

A mini tummy tuck is ideal for patients who are bothered by loose skin or bulging below the belly button. The procedure is appealing because it is less invasive and has a smaller incision scar. The ideal candidate has only a small amount of excess skin in the lower abdomen. A mini tummy tuck can include liposuction and abdominal muscle repair.

Tummy Tuck Recovery What to Expect After an Abdominoplasty

Dr. Hermann provides detailed post-surgery care instructions and devotes a lot of time to monitoring patients during recovery. He will schedule several follow-up visits throughout your recovery to ensure you are recovering as expected. As you recover, you can expect:

Pain

Patients should expect some swelling and bruising after a tummy tuck. This is normal and is easily managed. Dr. Hermann will prescribe pain medication to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.

Compression Garment

To improve blood flow, expedite healing, and improve results, Dr. Hermann will have you wear a compression garment for several weeks after your abdominoplasty.

Activity

Exercise, housework, and physical activity will need to wait for awhile. However, we encourage light walking for short distances to improve circulation and avoid complications during your recovery.

Returning to Work

Your recovery will depend on how extensive your abdominoplasty was, how quickly you heal, and if your job involves manual labor. If your job involves sitting at a desk with no heavy lifting and you are healing properly, you may be able to return to work in a week or two.
