A Less Invasive Approach to a Full Facelift
Dr. Bruce Hermann takes a less invasive approach to full facelift surgery at his Denton, TX, practice. Using innovative techniques, Dr. Hermann can decrease the risk of complications and post-surgical pain, resulting in a faster and smoother recovery. A full facelift traditionally involves deep incisions that can seriously increase the risk of postoperative complications. Dr. Hermann instead uses barbed sutures to pull the tissues tight, significantly reducing sagging, lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging.
During a full facelift, Dr. Hermann will make small, discreet incisions to lift and tighten facial muscles. This procedure can also be combined with a neck lift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), and injectable dermal treatments such as JUVÉDERM® VolbellaXC for an overall rejuvenated appearance.

Why Choose Dr. Hermann?
After completing his formal plastic surgery training and before opening his own practice, Dr. Hermann took additional time to study facial cosmetic surgery techniques with a number of experienced surgeons. Although not a part of his formal training, Dr. Hermann believes this opportunity gave him the necessary tools and ability to hone his technique and provide his patients with the best care possible.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hermann is adamant about taking every safety precaution and using the latest tools and techniques. Under Dr. Hermann's care, you can feel confident that your surgeon is taking every measure to ensure that your treatment is safe and effective, and that your results will provide long-term satisfaction.
Are You a Candidate?
Ideal candidates for a full facelift need to have adequate skin elasticity that will respond well to the tightening techniques. Additionally, patients should:
- Be in good overall health
- Have realistic expectations. A facelift can help you look rested and rejuvenated, but it cannot make a 50-year-old patient look 19.
- Be committed to following preoperative and postoperative instructions
- Be nonsmokers or willing to stop the habit, which can severely compromise recovery
Dr. Hermann will evaluate your candidacy during an initial consultation. During this exam, he will review your medical history and take the time to describe the procedure in detail, addressing any concerns you may have. Dr. Hermann will also provide you with preoperative instructions to help prepare your skin and body for the procedure. This may include foods and medications to avoid and skincare treatments to implement.
Dr. Hermann's minimally invasive techniques and extensive training can help you achieve the rested, rejuvenated appearance you desire.
For those who have only subtle signs of aging, or those who do not yet wish to undergo a facelift, we offer FaceTite, a minimally invasive rejuvenation treatment.
The Full Facelift Procedure
Surgery is traditionally performed six weeks after your initial consultation to ensure that you are adequately prepared. Before surgery, Dr. Hermann will administer general anesthesia to optimize your comfort throughout the procedure. He will then make the necessary incisions as discreetly as possible - usually in the hairline, behind the ears - in order to lift and tighten the underlying facial muscles, reposition the skin, and remove excess skin and fat. He will then carefully close the incisions and apply the necessary bandages and compression garments.
Recovery and Results
Over the next few weeks, Dr. Hermann will monitor your recovery and results. In order to achieve a successful recovery, be sure to follow your postoperative instructions carefully. You will need to:
- Keep your head elevated.
- Keep the surgical site clean and dry.
- Take medications as prescribed.
- Apply cold compresses.
- Avoid strenuous activity.
Swelling and bruising should subside within two weeks. Scars will continue to fade over time. In most cases, patients can return to daily activity and enjoy their results within three to four weeks. Dr. Hermann will let you know exactly when it is safe to resume work and other activities.
