- Near their ideal weight
- A non-smoker or at least willing to quit several weeks before and after the procedure
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding
- Willing to reduce or eliminate alcohol consumption before and after the procedure
- Free from any conditions or disease that could complicate surgery
Candidates must be 22 years of age or older to receive silicon and cohesive gel breast implants. Saline implants can be placed in women aged 18 and over. Women under the age of 18 must be in need of corrective breast implants from injury or some form of congenital deformity.
Setting Realistic Goals
Breast implants will enhance your bustline and leave you with a more attractive silhouette. When preparing for breast augmentation surgery, Dr. Hermann feels that the most important question to ask is: Am I doing this for myself?
Other questions that you may ask yourself include:
- Do I have realistic expectations about the results of the surgery?
- Do I fully understand the potential risks of this procedure?
- Am I in good shape both physically and emotionally?
- Is this the right time in my life for breast augmentation surgery?
One way to alleviate concerns about the risks of breast augmentation surgery is to consult and work with a renowned plastic surgeon. Dr. Hermann is a fellowship-trained plastic surgeon who is highly qualified to perform safe breast augmentations that deliver drastic, natural-looking results.

What to Expect during Your Recovery
The first 24 to 48 hours after the outpatient surgery are usually the most uncomfortable. Dr. Hermann will prescribe medication to manage your pain. You should have a friend or family member stay with you during the first few days after surgery. Bruising and soreness will begin to subside three to 10 days after the surgery. During the first two weeks of recovery, you should get lots of rest and wear your support garment as directed. Overall healing time can take four to six weeks. Most patients return to work after one week.
