What Are BOTOX Injections?
BOTOX Cosmetic is an FDA-approved treatment used to smooth facial lines and wrinkles, helping patients achieve younger-looking skin. Administered in one 10- to 15-minute session, BOTOX injections can be performed on their own, or they can complement procedures such as eyelid surgery.
Like another popular treatment called Dysport®, the BOTOX solution contains safe amounts of botulinum toxin. Dr. Hermann is a very, very good plastic surgeon. He did an amazing job on reattaching a significant part of my ear after it had gotten severed in an accident. At first glance he thought I had a 50-50 chance of keeping it, but he managed to save the whole ear. His bedside manner is wonderful and his nurse and office staff are most personable. Caution and Proper Screenings
Before administering treatment at our Denton practice, Dr. Hermann will ensure that you are in good overall health without any signs of a neuromuscular disorder. Pregnant or nursing patients cannot undergo BOTOX injections.
If you are looking for a less invasive rejuvenation option, you may be a candidate for BOTOX injections.
What Are Your Expectations?
One of the most important factors to consider when choosing cosmetic care is your expectations of the procedure. While botulinum toxin can diminish age lines and refresh your appearance, the results will not be as dramatic as those from surgical procedures. BOTOX also will not address sagging and other skin imperfections.

Results and Follow-Up Treatment
The results of treatment generally last about three to six months. When the signs of aging return, you can safely undergo touch-ups to restore the effects. Some patients find that their results get even better after a few treatment sessions. Our team can also discuss the use of dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® to treat issues such as thin lips or deeper lines and creases.

BOTOX FAQ
Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my treatment?
BOTOX injections are relatively straightforward and do not require much preparation. However, we recommend avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications like aspirin and ibuprofen in the days leading up to treatment to reduce the chance of side effects.
How long does it take for BOTOX to start working?
While every patient is different, botulinum toxin typically takes effect about three to five days after injections. The peak effects usually settle in after two weeks. If you are not satisfied with the results at that time, please contact our office, and we can discuss increasing your units.
Will my injections look natural?
When injected by a qualified provider, BOTOX can look completely natural. Our team has undergone specialized training to understand how BOTOX interacts with your facial anatomy. Using our knowledge and experience, we will determine the optimal location and dosage for your injections to ensure the most natural-looking results.
Does insurance cover BOTOX?
Insurance coverage for BOTOX is limited to health-related treatment. Unfortunately, cosmetic care is not covered by insurance. However, our Denton office does accept financing through CareCredit® to help make your procedure more affordable.
